Brins Mesa hiking tour

This is another one of my favorite hikes and one of the first hikes I ever did in Sedona. I even spent New Years Eve 2001 atop this mesa with a group of friends. Starting off in “Uptown”, you climb to the top of Brins Mesa, which is located just south of Wilson Mountain and was burned during a forest fire in the summer of 2006. From the top of the mesa, you have beautiful views of the surrounding rock formations. There are a number of variations that can be added to this hike that include hiking to the top of the Brins Mesa Ridge, hiking down through Soldier Pass, or even hiking over to some Indian ruins in Lost Canyon.

Cathedral Rock & Oak Creek hiking tour swimming

Enjoy a moderate hike to the top of Cathedral Rock, Sedona’s most photographed rock formation. Here you can absorb the “vortex energy” as you ascend to the towering red rocks.  This is a great adventure for those that enjoy “rock scrambling”, as the first part of the hike involves a steep ascent on huge chunks of red rock. From the top, you will see panoramic views of the surrounding area including Oak Creek below. As you descend, your guide will take you on a side trail that takes you to the cooling waters of Oak Creek, where you can stop for a snack or a dip in the creek. This is a Hiking and Swimming Tour.

Jim Thompson  / Huckaby Loop hiking tour swimming

This is a fantastic summertime hike because it offers a great swimming hole with a natural slide (no, it isn’t Slide Rock - someplace much better) where you can take a ride down Oak Creek. This is also an excellent hike the Spring or Fall (think flowers and autumn colors). There are some areas that involve an invigorating upward climb, and for those who are interested an even bigger ascent, Steamboat Rock can also be scaled for some serious viewing pleasure.

Bear Mountain Trail 4 x 4 jeep tour hiking tour

This is one of my favorite hikes. This is an invigorating hike to the third highest point in Sedona, at an elevation of 6,506 feet. Bear Mountain, named that by the Native Americans for its resemblance to a bear lying down when looked upon from above. This is a stunning hike that affords unparalleled views of the vistas below and beyond. This is a Hiking Tour.

Elevation Profile........... 4,600 – 6,506 Feet

Elevation Change........... 1,906 Feet

Wilson Mountain hiking tour

A truly fantastic hike that affords stunning views of Oak Creek Canyon, Sterling Canyon, and Sedona from high above. Wilson Mountain, Sedona’s highest mountain has an elevation of 7,122 feet. On this hike you will take the cooler “north” trail, hiking among the tall Ponderosa Pines as you venture upward. At First Bench, Flagstaff’s San Francisco Peaks become visible to the north. As you venture upward still, you pass a fire box and a cross roads in the trail. Head to the left, and the overlook offers a view of Sedona from high above. Head to the right, and you trek westward across Wilson Mountain until you get to the second overlook. Here you will see Sterling Canyon, Vultee Arch, Oak Creek Canyon, and the magnificent San Francisco Peaks. This is a Hiking Tour. NOTE: This trail is temporarily closed due to damage from the Brins Forest Fire.

Mushroom Rock hiking tour

Explore the hidden trails deep with Boyton Canyon. Here your guide will take you into Boyton Canyon, one of Sedona’s vortex sites. This is a great hike for those wishing to do something a little more strenuous. Once in the canyon, you will leave the main trail, to explore the area’s hidden canyons and vistas. Your destination, Mushroom Rock, is a gigantic rock that looks like a big red rock mushroom that you can sit upon. Beautiful vistas are abundant on this expedition. Not for the faint of heart.  This is a Hiking Tour.
