Sedona is known as the high desert or the elevated desert. It sits at the southern edge of the Mogollon Rim at an elevation of 4,200. Unlike the deserts to our south (Phoenix and Tucson areas), Sedona maintains a moderate temperature range throughout the year. In the heat of the summer when the southern area deserts reach temperatures topping over 115 degrees farenheight, Sedona remains at a much cooler 95 degrees farenheight. Comparatively, to the north, Flagstaff which is at an elevation of 7,000 feet, has winter temperatures with lows in the 20’s. Our winter (night time) lows rarely go below 30 degrees farenheight. This makes Sedona a perfect haven for hiking and outdoor recreational activities all year long.
Below are some handy charts that will help you in planning your trip to Sedona.
